Cookies and local storage

Exactly what gets stored in your browser when you visit nepal.gr.

Before you answer

Until you choose "Accept" or "Reject", the site does not load Google Analytics and sets no analytics cookie. The only things kept in your browser until then are the local-storage entries listed below.

Strictly necessary cookies

We set no login or basket cookies: the site has no accounts and no shop.

Analytics cookies

If you choose "Accept", Google Analytics 4 (G-9QK2GED157) sets cookies to tell visitors and visits apart — typically _ga and _ga_<property id>. Their lifetime is set by Google Analytics and your browser.

They are used only for aggregate readership statistics, not for advertising.

If you withdraw your acceptance, the site switches measurement off and expires the _ga cookies it can see on this domain.

Advertising cookies

None. The site explicitly denies ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation, and those denials stay in force even after you accept analytics.

Local storage (not cookies)

Your preferences — theme, language and your cookie answer — stay in your browser and are not sent to us. The chat session id is the exception: it is kept in your browser too, but it is sent with every message you write in the chat. The first three survive until you clear them; the last two disappear when you close the tab:

  • theme — whether you picked the light or dark theme.
  • nepal-lang — your preferred language.
  • nepal-consent — your answer to the cookie question ("granted" or "denied").
  • nepal-chat-session — a random chat session id. It is sent with every chat message so replies stay in the same thread; it says nothing about who you are.
  • nepal-emergency-2026-09-02 — that you dismissed the notice bar at the top.

How to change your choice

The "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page clears your stored answer and shows the question again, so you can answer differently.

Every browser also lets you delete or block cookies and clear local storage from its settings.

Google also publishes an official Google Analytics opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
